Church of San Pablo

Iglesia de San Pablo

In front of Cordoba Town Hall stands the impressive church of San Pablo. It was built between the 13th and 14th centuries, but was heavily reformed in the 18th. The main façade opens out onto calle Capitulares and the main entrance has spiralling columns known as Salomonica. The tower has one of the three best preserved bell-towers in the whole of Spain. Past the yard at the entrance, the main door can be seen, which is Mannerist in style and leads to the church itself, which is divided into three naves. The most striking features on the inside are the decorative ceilings in Mudejar style, the main altarpiece and the vaulted building or qubba (possibly remains of an Almohad palace over which the church was built).
