Mosque of AlmanzorThe last major extension was carried out by the visir Almanzor at the end of the 10th century. In this area, the building materials are rather poor, reflecting the imminent downfall of the Caliphate. As it was impossible to extend the Mosque further south, because the River Guadalquivir was in the way, Almanzor chose to add eight more naves further to the east.
